  30. Are you kidding? I'm always happy to plug my business! As I mentioned in the
  31. original post, I render with two Raptor 3's. These each have the 21164 Alpha
  32. at 266 MHz. I don't know if you're aware that this is the "dual" Alpha,
  33. essentially two of the earlier 21064 Alphas on a single chip. This makes
  34. each Raptor 3 twice as fast as a 275 MHz Carrera, Aspen or similar machine.
  35. If you already knew all that stuff, my apologies. The two different types of
  36. chip have given rise to a great deal of confusion.

  38. Anyway, each machine is typically 30 to 45 times faster than a stock A4000.
  39. The higher differences especially come into play in scenes with compute-
  40. intensive operations like raytracing, motion blur and depth-of-field, which
  41. the Alpha chip has a much easier time with compared to a 68040. 
  42.  
  43. Rates are: $30/hour, $320/day; $1050/week. Tape stock and shipping are
  44. extra, with no charge for actually laying off the animation. My output
  45. device is a PVR, going to BetaSP or SVHS. The hookup to BetaSP is full
  46. component, and the deck in question is a BVW-series (I used to own a
  47. UVW-1800 and BVW's are quite a bit cleaner, both visually and on a scope).
